OLIVE HILL Leetavious Cline racked up three touchdowns in the first quarter on Friday night as host West Carter sailed pass Lewis County, 50-7.
Cline’s 72-yard punt return to paydirt opened the scoring less than a minute and a half into the game. He added TD runs of 20 and 31 yards within the next 3:28 of game time as the Comets blew it open early.
Orry Perry found Sam Jones and Dominic Hinton for scoring passes in the first half as well, and Landon Nichols hooked up with Logan Berry for a TD from 22 yards out with 10 seconds to go in the half. The The fifth of Garrett Wolfe’s six extra points gave West Carter (1-1) a 43-0 lead at intermission.
Cole Crampton got in on the fun with a scoring run of 12 yards in the third quarter.
The Lions (0-3) avoided the shutout on Moses Jackson’s 37-yard run and Quirin Knösel’s point-after with 9:10 to go.
