RICHMOND Russell was backed into a corner, which was just how Georgia Arrington wanted it.

The senior sent two corner kicks into the twine in the first half as the visiting Lady Devils, already without a starter and down to 10 players after an early red card, topped Madison Central, 4-2, on Saturday.

Lena Blanke scored off Ainsley Bender’s assist before Blanke set up Hannah Howell for a goal in the second half as Russell (4-5) went up 4-0. Sydney Maggard and Madison Whittaker tallied late for the Lady Indians (2-3).

Russell earned its first victory against an 11th Region program since 2009 with the win.
