LEXINGTON Ashland and Boyd County's girls each picked up victories in consolation action at the Traditional Bank Holiday Classic at Lexington Catholic on Sunday.

The Kittens raced past South Warren, 63-29, using a 22-1 advantage in the third quarter to pull away from what was a five-point lead at halftime.

Mikayla Martin and Morgan Bradley each scored 13 points and Julia Parker dropped in 11 for Ashland (8-2).

The Lady Lions got past Highlands, 64-61, in overtime. Harley Paynter scored three of her 27 points in the extra session, which proved to be the margin.

Paynter's points came on an and-1. Bailey Rucker also made two of two charity tosses in overtime.

Rucker scored 14 points for Boyd County (4-5). Paynter made five of the Lady Lions' 10 3-pointers.

Maggie Hinegardner scored 16 points for the Bluebirds (3-4), connecting on four treys. Piper Macke dropped in 12.
