SUMMIT Huntington Prep’s regional team was a late add to Boyd County’s schedule.

The Lions took care of business early, though, against the Irish on Friday night.

Host Boyd County ran out to a 10-point halftime lead to secure a 60-51 victory over Huntington Prep.

Blake Stewart scored 21 points and Carson Webb netted 13 for the Lions (16-11).

Robert Sheldon scored 13 points, Sam Saint Vac produced 12 and Tylan Hutchison totaled 11.

ASHLAND A slow start had the visiting Musketeers down by three points at halftime on Friday night.

A 23-1 run to start the second half got Greenup County going.

Brady Nelson scored 22 points, Zander Carter netted 11 and Zane Carter dropped in 10 for the Musketeers (17-9). Rod Dryden collected 17 rebounds, seven assists and four blocks.

Nine Greenup County players scored. The Musketeers outrebounded the Royals 40-19.

Kenny Wilburn scored 20 points and Trey Phelps and Stephan Barker each posted 11 for the Royals (5-19).

The host Eagles led the Saints 49-36 through three frames. Manning made sure there would be no comeback, pitching in 10 points in the final quarter as Fairview increased its lead at each quarter stop.

Manning scored 21 points, Cody Caldwell dropped in 14, Terrick Smith totaled 12 and Brandon Elswick produced 10 for the Eagles (7-15).

LUCASVILLE, Ohio The Lady Pointers advanced to the OHSAA Southeast District Division III Waverly 2 sectional tournament final on Thursday night by limiting the Lady Huntsmen to 14 points through three quarters at Valley.

Emilee Carey scored 18 points, including 10 in the first half, and Emilee Whitt scored 13 for South Point (13-8).

The Lady Pointers’ Maddy Khounlavong limited Scioto Valley Conference Player of the Year Allison Basye to 14 points. Basye, a sophomore, holds a scholarship offer from Providence College of the Big East.

South Point meets Nelsonville-York tonight in the sectional tournament final at Jackson.
