Ashland running back and defensive back Matt Thomas has been named to the 5th Annual Team, the only player from the area to make the team.

Thomas, a 6-foot-1, 175 pound senior, made the team under the Athletes catagory.

Thomas rushed for 1,423 yards this season in limited time at running back. In true do-it-all fashion, he led the Tomcats in rushing, passing, scoring, return yardage and interceptions.

On Sept. 28 against rival Boyd County, Thomas rushed for 364 yards in a 40-33 overtime victory. That was good for second on Ashland’s all-time single-game list.

The All Team is made up of 11 offensive and 11 defensive players and a kicker and punter. There are also 12 athletes named to the team. All are from Kentucky without regards for class.

Corey Robinson, a record-breaking quarterback from Lone Oak, was named the Player of the Year.
