LLOYD With a week to go until its season opener, Greenup County has had a change in softball coach.

Eric Keeton resigned as the Lady Musketeers' softball coach on Monday, he confirmed.

Keeton did not respond to a request for additional information before press time on Tuesday.

Keeton is also assistant principal at Greenup County High School and will continue in that role, principal Jason Smith said.

The Lady Musketeers are scheduled to begin what would have been their 12th season under Keeton on Tuesday at Mason County.

Greenup County went 165-171 in 11 seasons under Keeton's lead. The Lady Musketeers made the 16th Region Tournament semifinals in 2013.

"Greenup County High School would like to thank coach Keeton for his many years of leading the Musketeer softball program," Smith said. "Coach Keeton has been an asset to GCHS softball and continues to be as assistant principal.

"I know he's looking forward to spending more time with his family and enjoying the many activities that both his daughters are involved in. We very much thank him for his commitment and efforts for the young ladies of our softball program."
