GRAYSON Despite daily rain delays, players competed in and completed the Heart of the Parks Classic in Grayson from last Thursday through Tuesday.

The tournament began with junior singles. The following champions were crowned on Thursday and Friday: Louisa’s Jesslyn Osborn (18U girls); Morehead’s Natalie Northcutt (14U); Louisa’s Brock Kessinger (16U); and Ashland’s Cameron Brown (14U).

In Saturday’s “A” men’s singles finals, Jarod Fyffe-Caudill (Paintsville) defeated Jacob Estep (Morehead), 7-6 (7-4), 6-1.

In “B” women’s doubles play, Makenzie and Maria Hayes (Grayson) beat West Liberty duo Ashton Jones and Emily Hammonds, 7-5, 5-7 (10-4). Cora Beth Hammonds and Kaleigh Murphy outdueled Northcutt and Anlen Bobyack, 6-0, 6-3.

Jeff and Lane Moudy, of Grayson, won the parent-child doubles competition. Paintsville’s Rodney Triplett prevailed in 40-and-over men’s singles.

In 50-plus men’s doubles, Mike Dmitrov (Barboursville) and Jeff Porter (Grayson) were champions.

In “B” mixed doubles, Maria Hayes and Tony Robinson (Pikeville) defeated Makenzie Hayes and Jim Vanover (Pikeville), 6-4, 6-1.

Triplett teamed up with Huntington’s Kyle Tackett to take down Josh Blanton (Ashland) and Tony Hopper (Hanging Rock, Ohio), 6-0, 6-3, in “B” men’s doubles.
