FLATWOODS – Local authorities have arrested the former treasurer of a local youth basketball league after court records said he used the basketball league's credit card to purchase thousands of dollars worth of unapproved items.
Joshua M. Salley, of Russell, was arrested by the Flatwoods Police Department on Tuesday after a warrant was issued for his arrest. Salley was charged with three counts of theft by deception over $500, a class D felony punishable up to five years incarcerated per charge.
According to court records from the Greenup County Courthouse, Salley was the Treasurer of the Marvin Meredith Girls Youth Basketball League and used the basketball league's credit card to purchase thousands in unapproved items.
The court records indicate indicate Salley stole $1,485.93 on count one, $1,582.00 on count two, and $1,021.80 on count three for a total of $4,089.73.
