ASHLAND Authorities have identified the person that died in a house fire that took place Saturday night at the 1900 block of Central Avenue.

Boyd County Coroner Mark Hammond said that Carolyn Zimmerman, 58, of Ashland, died in the fire.

Authorities said the cause of the fire is still under investigation.

Zimmerman's death comes just weeks after the death of her husband, Charles Laypool.

Grace Culture outreach pastor Dave Gill said that the husband and wife attended Grace Culture.

“They were both incredibly kind people,” Gill said.

Gill said that Zimmerman wasn’t originally from the area and had lived in Ashland only the past few years.

“She was incredibly optimistic and enthusiastic,” Gill said. “She helped us out a little bit at our shelter that we had last winter and was researching a grant that might help us in that regard.”
