ASHLAND The Boyd County Sheriff’s Department arrested an Ashland woman for attempted murder on Friday after police said she retrieved a shotgun to shoot her husband.
Julie Ann Crawford, 32, was arrested by deputies at a residence on Meade Springer Road at approximately 9 p.m. Friday. Crawford was arrested on attempted murder and domestic violence charges, according to a press release sent by Sgt. J. Delaney of the Boyd County Sheriff’s Department.
Delaney said that deputies received a call Friday evening about a domestic dispute involving a shotgun. Deputies arrived on scene and made contact with Julie Crawford and her husband, Thomas Crawford.
“Our investigation determined that during a heated domestic dispute between Julie and her husband, Julie retrieved a shotgun with the intention of shooting her husband,” said Delaney. “An alert third party at the scene witnessed what was about to transpire and was able to wrestle the shotgun away from the suspect prior to a shot being fired.”
Julie Crawford is lodged at the Boyd County Detention Center.
