Kentucky Power currently has 350 reported outages in Boyd County, 64 reported outages in Carter County and 1,262 outages in Greenup County, according to the outage map provided by Kentucky Power.

We are beginning to see damage from the strong winds,” said Corporate Communications Manager Allison Barker.

Barker said damaged lines include Breathitt County, which currently has 247 outages on the outage map, as well as Catlettsburg.

“At 12:45 p.m., we were responding to 3,425 outages,” said Barker. “The greatest number of outages are reported in Knott County, where about 1,100 are affected.”

Barker said crews are working quickly to repair the lines.

“Our crews are working as quickly as it is safe to do so in the windy conditions to restore power,” said Barker. “We know Thanksgiving is an important family time and we will do our best to make sure our customers have electricity.”
