GRAYSON Kentucky State Police responded to the call of an inmate death at the Carter County Detention Center on Thursday.
Carter County Detention Center contacted KSP Post 14 concerning the death of federal inmate William Pulliam, 65.
Pulliam was found deceased in his cell on Thursday evening, according to a KSP press release.
Cellmates and jail staff attempted to revive Pulliam until Carter County EMS arrived.
EMS continued resuscitation attempts, which were ultimately unsuccessful.
Investigators do not suspect criminal activity played at role in Pulliam’s death. An autopsy is scheduled for today.
This case remains under investigation by Detective Jeff Kelley. Carter County EMS and the Carter County Coroner’s Office assisted on the scene.
Pulliam pleaded guilty to second-degree murder in August, according to court records. He pleaded guilty to the shooting death of James Means, 15, of Charleston. The incident occurred in 2016.
