ASHLAND – Police said it appears foul play is involved in the death of an Ashland man found at his residence on Sunday.

The Ashland Police Department said they responded to a call on Sunday at 3:52 p.m. to an address at the 2500 block of Auburn Avenue in South Ashland to check on the welfare of a resident.

A press release published by the department said upon arrival officers found the resident, Phil Marzetti, 65, deceased. Officers found evidence of foul play.

Police reports indicate the death is being investigated as a homicide. Police reports list a knife or cutting as a weapon involved.

Boyd County Coroner Mark Hammond said Marzetti was pronounced deceased at the scene and will be transported to Frankfort for an autopsy.

The Ashland Police Department said that the investigation is ongoing.

“No further information will be released as the case is still being investigated,” according to the press release. “Ashland Police will release details whenever possible.”

APD said that a person of interest in connection to the case has been located. Police reports indicate the person of interest has not been arrested.
