CATLETTSBURG A former manager of the Boyd County Child Support Office has been indicted on 77 charges and set for arraignment Tuesday.

Mary E. Pickett, 55, the former manager of the Boyd County Child Support Office, is scheduled for criminal arraignment on Tuesday at 9 a.m. on the charge of theft by unlawful taking, $10,000 or more but less than $1 million, and 76 charges of first-degree forgery.

The child support contracting official contacted Kentucky State Police Post 14 on Sept. 27 concerning Pickett unlawfully taking money from the payroll account. She was terminated and escorted out of the office, according to KSP.

Through investigation, KSP determined a large sum of money was taken over a period of years from the payroll account. No funds had been taken from any child support account or case, according to the press release from KSP. Pickett had forged the name of another county official on multiple occasions to obtain more money unlawfully.

The case remains under investigation by Detective Jeff Kelley.

The Daily Independent will update the story as more information becomes available.
