Flatwoods Mayor Ron Fields said he's optimistic a water line break in Flatwoods that is impacting hundreds of customers will be fixed this afternoon.

"We've got to dig it up and see what we've got," Fields said.

Fields said the line break is along Bellefonte Road leading into Russell next to the high school. It is an either six or eight-inch line that has busted. Asked how many customers are impacted he said:

"The whole city," Fields said. "The high points at the city are out. Some are out of water and some have low pressure."

Fields said Monday afternoon he expected the repair to be finished in a few hours. It appeared the line had been leaking over the weekend and on Monday an area resident called to say water was gushing out. City employees dug a trench to take off some pressure from leaking water running down the hill onto Bellefonte Road.
