WESTWOOD – Two men were arrested Wednesday by Boyd County deputies on charges of rape.
Jesus Hernandez, 26, and Jose Gutierrez, 30, both of Mexico, were arrested by the Boyd County Sheriff's Department on the charge of first-degree rape, according to police reports.
“According to the victim's statement the rape took place sometime after 9 p.m. on 8/13/2019,” wrote Sgt. J. Delaney from the Boyd County Sheriff's Department in a press release. “The rape allegedly took place in the suspect's work van behind a business located in the Westwood area.”
Deputies seized video evidence and the suspect's work van for DNA testing, according to police reports. The name of the victim is being withheld for the protection of their identity.
“The suspects are from Mexico and the department had to use a translator to conduct the interviews with the suspects which provided additional evidence to the possible crime,” said Delaney.
Delaney said that the case remains under investigation by the Boyd County Sheriff's Department and additional suspects may be involved in the crime as well.
Hernandez and Gutierrez were lodged at the Boyd County Detention Center without incident.
