GRAYSON U.S. Senator and physician Rand Paul is set to meet with Ashland area leaders on Monday.

According to a press release sent by Paul’s office, the senator will continue traveling throughout Kentucky for a variety of events, beginning Monday in Frankfort to give the opening keynote address at the Federalist Society’s State Convention.

Paul will travel to Morehead to hold a special field hearing entitled, “Squeezed at Both Ends: Federal Spending Resulting from Restrictive Logging Access and Timber Tariffs,” with the Federal Spending Oversight and Emergency Management (FSO) Subcommittee for the Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee (HSGAC).

The hearing will focus on the timber industry and its relationship with federal agencies to enhance regional economic development and is open to the public, according to the press release.

Following the hearing, he will attend a roundtable at FIVCO in Grayson with local leaders in the Ashland area.

On Tuesday, Oct. 8, he will continue his participation in a series of community events and roundtables in Pikeville, Hazard, Harlan and Somerset.
