Amanda Wilcox Patterson

ASHLAND A local woman is making her contribution to the happiest place on Earth.

Russell native Amanda Wilcox Patterson’s voice is being used at Disney Paris during IllumiNations, a show performed nightly that uses fireworks, pyrotechnics, water fountains, fire effects, lasers and searchlights to create a visual production.

The 35-year-old was a professional singer for 10 years.

“I have a friend who referred me to the Disney project where I sang ‘A Dream Is a Wish’ for the finale that is projected onto Cinderella’s castle at the end of the night in the Disneyland in Paris,” she said. “I think, total, my voice was used for five minute — the very beginning of the show and the very end.” She auditioned two years ago and forgot about it.

She said her voice also will be featured in a new ride coming to Disneyland Shanghai.

“They unfortunately don’t give us a lot of details before a ride comes out because of secrecy,” Patterson said. “So I’m not sure when it will be released or what the ride will be called.”

Patterson, who has lived in Nashville for 15 years, said she no longer pursues a career in music, as the has been working for Ramsey Solutions as assistant to the vice president for the last six months, but she said she continues to help lead worship at her church and occasionally does short-term jobs such as the one for Disney.

The video is on YouTube; her voice is at the 1:12 and 17:11 marks.
