ASHLAND The Daily Independent’s Pet of the Week is Boyd County Animal Shelter’s Zeus.

Zeus is approximately 1 year old and weighs about 55 pounds. Zeus is a German Shepherd or Rottweiler mix.

Zeus is currently working on leash training with employees at Boyd County Animal Shelter.

“Being a shelter worker, you really have to have patience when a dog has never been on the leash like Zeus,” said BCAS employee Danielle Childers. “They require time, patience and a lot of love.”

Childers said Zeus is a very social dog.

“This handsome boy was brought in with two other dogs due to no fault of their own,” said Childers. “If you are worried your dog may not like Zeus, bring them in and we will gladly introduce them to each other.”

You can learn more about Zeus by visiting the shelter at 1025 Bob McCullough Drive or by calling (606) 324-0745.

Adoption fees at the shelter are $75 for dogs and $50 for cats. The fee covers the first round of shots, worming, rabies vaccine and spaying or neutering — the first round of shots is not included for cats.

Adoption hours are Monday-Friday from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
