ASHLAND The Daily Independent’s Pet of the Week is Boyd County Animal Shelter's Riker.

Riker is a male german-shepherd mix that weighs approximately 50 lbs and is approximately 2 years old.

Boyd County Animal Shelter employee Danielle Childers said that Riker is a beautiful boy who knows how to sit, shake, speak and catch treats.

“This boy is perfect,” said Childers. “Gorgeous coat, friendly personality, he is everything.”

Childers said that Riker is hoping to find his fur-ever family by the holidays.

“He’s going to sleigh ride with you when it snows and sit in front of the fire after Sunday dinners,” said Childers. “Don't keep him waiting.”

You can learn more about Riker by visiting the shelter at 1025 Bob McCullough Drive or by calling (606) 324-0745.

Adoption fees at the shelter are $75 for dogs and $50 for cats. The fee covers the first round of shots, worming, rabies vaccine and spaying or neutering — the first round of shots is not included for cats.

Adoption hours are Monday-Friday from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
