Blevins

Jason Blevins, 34, of Ashland.

CATLETTSBURG The man accused of killing a woman found in a yard over the weekend will appear in court today.

Jason Blevins, 34, of Ashland will be arraigned in Boyd District Court at 1 p.m., a deputy clerk said.

He is charged with murder and domestic violence, according to the clerk.

Blevins is charged in the slaying of Ericka Spradlin, 29, of Ashland. Her body was found Saturday morning on Marcia Street, a short street connecting Pollard Road and Delaware Street.

Police are revealing little about Blevins, Spradlin or what they know about the killing.

Police Chief Todd Kelley declined comment Thursday because of the continuing investigation and Boyd Commonwealth’s Attorney Rhonda Copley also declined to comment.

However, Blevins’s social media postings suggest he and Spradlin were acquainted and provides some insight into Blevins’s thinking.

The cover photo on his Facebook page shows him apparently spreadeagled on a cross. Spradlin posted a comment on another photo Blevins posted on his page.

The page shows he attended and graduated from Ramey-Estep High School in 2000, has been married and has children.

His list of likes shows an interest in goth culture and his photos reflect ambivalence toward religion.

Ashland police arrested Blevins Wednesday. He is being held without bond in the Greenup County Detention Center, according to jail records.
