AHC to celebrate women’s health
ASHLAND - Women are invited to join teams at American Health Centers from 6 to 7 p.m. Monday to kick off National Women’s Health Week.
Participants will receive tips about home exercise and stress-relieving stretches and information about healthy eating. Free weight-loss and chiropractic consultations from professionals on staff will also be offered.

Big yard sale set later this month
GREENUP - The fifth annual Highway 23 Yard Sale will be from 8 a.m to 5 p.m. May 24 through 26.
The sale will begin in Greenup County and follow through all the counties of U.S. 23, ending in Letcher County at the Virginia border.
Individuals can set up along U.S. 23 with the permission of landowners. No setups will be allowed on the state highway right of way. The sale will not assume liability for those setting up as part of the sale.
The organized site for Boyd County is the grassy area in front of Sargent’s Tires at the intersection of Hoods Creek and U.S 23.

Alleged bootlegger charged in Elliott
SANDY HOOK - A possible bootlegger on Skaggs Flat Road in Elliott County was arrested Thursday by Kentucky State Police in Morehead.
Trooper Royle Collett and Elliott County Sheriff Jim Stephens made contact at the residence of Carlene Gilley and discovered 20 cases of beer and 85 half-pints of liquor inside the residenence. The evidence was taken into custody.
Gilley was charged with illegal possession of alcohol in a dry territory.
Learning center event Saturday
ASHLAND - There will be a ribbon-cutting for the Lifelong Learning Center at 10 a.m. Saturday at 6417 U.S. 60.
Activities are planned from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., including inflatables, face painting, balloon animals and free food.
