The following information was taken from Ashland Police Department reports:

Fleeing, assault

‰A Greenup County man was charged with a number of offenses, a pair of felonies among them, after leading a police officer on a vehicle and foot pursuit early Saturday morning.

Fred J. Topping, 40, of Flatwoods, was lodged in the Boyd County Detention Center following the incident, which began about 12:25 a.m. on 13th Street when APD LT. William Bare tried to stop Topping’s vehicle.

Topping refused to pull over and led Bare on a chase that ended on Winslow Road, according to records.

Topping was charged with first- and second-degree fleeing or evading police, third-degree assault on a police officer, driving under the influence, resisting arrest, no insurance, no operator’s license and improper registration. The first-degree fleeing and assault charges are both felonies

Topping remained in custody Tuesday under $25,000 bond.

Theft

‰A Flatwoods woman reported Monday her purse and another unspecified item were stolen from her vehicle while it was parked at Movies 10. The stolen items had a total value of $680.

‰A Greenup woman reported Sunday her purse and its contents, valued at $223, were stolen from her vehicle while it was parked in the 2200 block of Hilton Avenue. The woman’s vehicle also sustained an estimated $250 damage.

‰A woman living in Bruce Apartments on Sunday reported the theft of an unspecified item valued at $150.

‰A woman living in the 2900 block of Dale Street on Saturday reported her vehicle, valued at $2,000, had been stolen. The vehicle was recovered later that day, but had been damaged, police said.

‰A man living in the 3400 block of Central Avenue reported Friday a bicycle valued at $100 was stolen from his front porch.
