ASHLAND – Local organizations are partnerning together to teach the public how to spot the latest scams, avoid fraud, and protect their personal information.
The Social Security Administration, Kentucky State Police, Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital, FIVCO AAAIL, and AARP Kentucky Volunteers are partnering together to host the “Outsmarting the Con Artist in Ashland” event on Friday, June 14 at the Bellefonte Pavilion, located at 2000 Ashland Drive, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Check-in will begin at 9 a.m.
This is a free and public event.
“Every two seconds, a con artist steals someone's identity,” organizers said in a press release. “In 2018 Americans reported losing $1.8 billion to fraud to the leading scams.”
Advance registration is required for the event, and can be done online at aarp.cvent.com/KYOutsmartAshland. Registration can also be completed over the phone at 1-8770926-8300. Seating is limited and a lunch will be provided with completed registration.
