Tim Gibbs was named chairman of the Kentucky Association for Economic Development for 2020.
Gibbs, the President & CEO of Ashland Alliance, said he was honored to be selected for the role. KAED works within three service pillars: education, advocacy and collaboration. They aim to lead missions within the nation and internationally to market Kentucky for business and economic opportunity.
The KAED is a membership association. Its stakeholders are interested in economic development in Kentucky. In 2019, it launched the Kentucky Product Development Initiative. It was a multi-million dollar grant-making program that would distribute funds to capital improvement projects.
The group established 2020 deployment, a professional education and certification program designed for economic developers and stakeholders.
The newly elected officers and directors of KAED are John Bevinton, LG&E and KU. They have taken on responsibilities as Chair-Elect. Bob Helton was also introduced as Secretary-Treasurer.
Helton is the Rowan County Economic Development Council.
There were two new people elected as three-year term directors. Those were Ivy Stanley of One East Kentucky and Josh Tubbs of Kentucky Lake Economic Development.
Three of the current directors were re-elected for three-year terms. Those people were Brett Traver of Southeast Kentucky Economic Development, Sierra Enlow and McGuire Sponsel.
They will be joining current directors Emily Jones of TVA, Brad Thomas of Kentucky’s Touchstone Energy Cooperatives, Lynn Allen of Bluegrass International Fund, Gina Greathouse of Commerce Lexington and Wade Williams of REDI Cincinnati.
