MOREHEAD Kentucky State Police arrested a Georgia man on sex-crime charges after police said the man traveled out of state with the intention of sexually assaulting a minor child.
Eric “Duane” Elmore, 46, of Columbus, Georgia, was arrested by Kentucky State Police on the charges of third-degree rape, prohibited use of electronic communication systems to procure a minor or peace officer (sex offense and conspiracy to commit rape) and five counts of distribution of obscene matter to minors, according to a press release sent by Kentucky State Police Post 8.
“More charges are pending,” said KSP Scott Ferrell in the press release.
According to KSP, on Nov. 5, the Rowan County School System contact KSP Post 8. It reported Elmore was sending sexually explicit electronic messages and photographs to a juvenile in the school system.
Police said during the investigation, Detective Justin Reynolds along with the assistance of the victim and their mother, was able to establish a line of communication with Elmore.
Elmore arranged to meet the victim in Morehead on Saturday, Nov. 23.
“Through the investigation, it was determined Elmore was traveling to Morehead, Kentucky, from Charlotte, North Carolina, believing he was going to meet the juvenile for sexual relations,” said Ferrell. “Elmore was arrested upon his arrival to the pre-arranged meeting location in Morehead by Kentucky State Troopers. The investigation continues by the Kentucky State Police Post 8 in Morehead.”
Elmore was lodged at the Rowan County Detention Center where he remains on a $50,000 cash bond.
