CATLETTSBURG – A former Ashland teacher was indicted by the Boyd County Grand Jury after court documents said the man allegedly had sexual contact with someone under the age of 18. The man has reportedly resigned from his position at the high school.

Tony E. Clarke, 50, of Flatwoods was indicted by the grand jury on the charges of first-degree sexual abuse, a class D felony, and third-degree unlawful transaction with a minor, a class A misdemeanor, according to court documents.

Clarke was a teacher at Paul G. Blazer High School and reportedly resigned his position.

Clarke was charged with first degree sexual abuse after he allegedly had sexual contact with someone under the age of 18, according to court documents.

Clarke was charged with unlawful transaction with a minor after he allegedly gave alcohol to a minor, according to court documents.

Clarke posted a bond of $50,000 and has been released from the Boyd County Detention Center.

Boyd County Commonwealth Attorney Rhonda Copley said the alleged victim in the case was not a current student and the alleged victim was not from the same school district.
