CATLETTSBURG A man appeared in court on Friday on a sex abuse charge.
Tony E. Clarke, 50, of Flatwoods, is charged with first-degree sexual abuse, a class D felony, and third-degree unlawful transaction with a minor, a class A misdemeanor, according to court documents.
Clarke appeared with his attorney in front of Boyd County Circuit Court Judge George Davis and requested the case be reset for pretrial conference. The case is scheduled for Nov. 1.
Clarke was charged with first-degree sexual abuse after he allegedly had sexual contact with someone under the age of 18, according to court documents.
Clarke was charged with unlawful transaction with a minor after he allegedly gave alcohol to a minor, according to court documents.
Clarke was a teacher at Paul G. Blazer High School and resigned his position prior to his court date.
Boyd County Commonwealth Attorney Rhonda Copley said the alleged victim in the case was not a current student and was not from the same school district.
