CATLETTSBURG The man accused in the killing of an Ashland woman found dead in a yard has been scheduled for jury trial in 2020.

Jason Blevins, 36, is accused of killing 29-year-old Ericka Spradlin of Ashland. Spradlin’s body was found Jan. 19, 2019, in a yard on Marcia Street.

Blevins appeared in Boyd County Circuit Court on Thursday in front of Judge John Vincent for a pretrial conference. Blevins trial date is scheduled for June 8, 2020. He will appear for another status update on March 19.

Boyd County Assistant Commonwealth Attorney Christina Smith said that the prosecution is awaiting results from a DNA test.

According to Boyd County Coroner Mark Hammond, Spradlin had been assaulted and a weapon was involved in her death.

Medical examiners have determined the cause of Spradlin’s death but are not releasing the information, Hammond said.

Blevins is currently incarcerated at the Boyd County Detention Center and is being held on a $500,000 cash only bond.
