ASHLAND The time has come for Firkin Fest.

Ashland’s only craft beer festival will be held this Saturday on the streets of downtown Ashland from 1 to 6 p.m. The fifth annual event will feature 147 craft beers, live music, local food and regional retailers.

Boyd County Tourism and Convention Bureau Executive Director Sue Gilmore Dowdy touched on the event's success saying it continues to grow every year, bringing in those from all around the tri-state area.

“It's a great event for downtown that's for sure,” she said, noting vendors will bring in tourism dollars as well.

Firkin Fes tickets may be purchased online at BeerFests.com (tickets.beerfests.com/event/firkin-fest/) or at the following local retailers: 1st Stop Liquor; Ashland Beverage Centre; Carter Avenue Beverage; Good Spirits; and Shamrock Liquors.

General admission presale tickets are $25; day of event cost is $30. VIP admission presale tickets are $50; day of event cost is $55. Presale VIP tickets may be purchased online only.

Day of event ticket sales will begin on-site Saturday at 11 a.m. Both general admission and VIP tickets may be purchased at ticketing booths located on Winchester Avenue outside the My Town TV studio.

Presale general admission and VIP ticket holders will also check-in at the Winchester Avenue ticketing locations.

General admission ticket includes ten (10) craft beer tasting tickets and official Firkin Fest mini mug. A VIP ticket includes 10 craft beer tasting tickets and official Firkin Fest mini mug; early bird admission beginning at 1 p.m.; VIP limited edition t-shirt; access to exclusive VIP tent and amenities; VIP only parking and access to rare and limited-edition craft beers and firkins.

An exclusive VIP tent will be located on Judd Plaza adjacent to the Firkin Fest stage. VIP tickets holders must check-in at the VIP ticketing booth located on Winchester Avenue in front of the My Town TV studio. VIP ticket holders may park free of charge in the Community Trust Parking Garage located on the corner of 17th Street and Carter Avenue.

Complimentary VIP foods will be prepared by Smokin’ J’s Rib & Brewhouse and The Winchester Steak & Seafood.

Firkin Fest tasting tickets are equivalent to 3 ounces of craft beer. Guests may purchase an additional three craft beer tasting tickets for $10 the day of the event. Only 1,000 general admission tickets and 500 VIP tickets are available.

Admission to Firkin Fest is free to designated drivers and guests who wish not to sample craft beer. Guests interested in craft beer tasting must be 21 or older and must purchase an event ticket.

Live music will be performed by Creek Don’t Rise, Chocolate 4-Wheeler, The Handshake Deals, Driftwood Gypsy and Charlie Brown Superstar. Live music is hosted and emceed by iHeart Radio. Local food trucks include: Smokin J’s Rib & Brewhouse; The Winchester Steak & Seafood; County Fair; Matney’s Wood Fired Pizza; Suplex Tacos and Dragonfly Outdoor Café.

Regional retailers will feature: Savage Farms; Redneck Hispter Hot Sauce; Holly B's Jewelry & Gifts; Fat Ash Cigar; Farmhouse Repurposed; Buck's Records; Prichard Produce; Full Circle Gifts & Goods; KY State Parks Foundation; New Leaf Oddities; West Va Woods; Mountain Moverz; The Vault Market; Ghostly Gourmet and West Virginia Photo Booth.

Event proceeds will benefit non-profit organization Ashland in Motion and sponsor future events and community initiatives.
