Aug. 30 – Sept. 6

Fires/Alarms:

Aug. 31: 2245 Winchester Ave. to investigate and odor. Crews investigated and found the odor coming from sewer line. Advised occupants to call a plumber.

Sept. 1: 3101 Winchester Ave. for a fire alarm. Crews investigated and found no problems in 4th floor apartment. Reset alarm.

Sept. 1: 1317 Fairfax Drive for a residential fire alarm. Crews arrived to find occupant advised of an accidental activation and no problem. Resident reset alarm prior to arrival.

Sept. 1: 3101 Winchester Ave. for a fire alarm. Crews investigated and found no problems in 4th floor apartment.

Sept. 2: 1811 Carter Ave. for a fire alarm. Crews investigated and found no cause for alarm, but system was in trouble. Advised key holders of the issue.

Sept. 2: 1300 block of Beech Street for a tree in power lines. Crews secured the area and stood by until AEP arrived on the scene.

Sept. 3: 1811 Carter Ave. for a fire alarm. Crews investigated and found Alarm Co working on system upon arrival. No other problems.

Sept. 3: 3131 Winchester Ave. for fire alarm. Crews investigated and found no problems in 2nd floor apartment. Reset alarm.

Sept. 3: 1516 Montgomery Ave. for a fire alarm. Crews investigated and found no problems. Alarm company was contacted.

Sept. 3: 2201 Lexington Ave. for a fire alarm. Crews investigated and found burnt paper in oven of food court. No other problems were present. Reset alarm.

Sept. 3: 1701 Lexington Ave. to standby for a helicopter landing.

Sept. 3: 309 Ringo St. to assist occupants with a broken water line. Crews isolated the power to hot water tank and shut off water to unit.

Sept. 5:  2315 Woodland Ave. for a water leak. Crew investigated and was able to tighten shutoff valve to stop leaking.

Motor Vehicle Accidents:

Aug. 30: 1400 block of Central Avenue for a motor vehicle accident. Crews checked for injuries and assisted with one patient who was transported by EMS crew to the hospital. Cleared debris from the roadway.

Aug. 31:  9th and Winchester Avenue for a two-vehicle accident. EMS was on scene administering care to one patient. Crews assisted with clearing the roadway.

Sept. 3 12th and Winchester Avenue for a motor vehicle accident. Crews checked for injuries and extricated driver of one vehicle. Assisted EMS with loading of patient for transport to the hospital and clear fluids and debris from the roadway.

Sept. 3: Boy Scout and Greenbriar Road for a motor vehicle accident without injuries. Crews cleared fluids from the roadway.

Sept. 4: 607 Winchester Ave. for a reported motor vehicle accident involving a motor cycle but were canceled in route after driver left scene.

Sept. 4: 1000 block of Winchester Avenue for a motor vehicle accident. Crews assisted with cleanup of debris and fluids while EMS crew checked for injuries.

Rescue:

Aug. 30: 410 Riverhill Drive for a child stuck in play equipment. Crews cut equipment and removed child from the equipment with only minor bruises.

Aug. 31: 3131 Winchester Ave. for a person stuck in the elevator. Crews gained entry to remove occupant from the 1st floor. Shut off power to unit and advised building maintenance of the issue.

Sept. 1: 3400 block of Reeves Boulevard to gain entry to apartment with two children locked inside. APD were dealing with parents who were intoxicated and locked outside.

Sept. 2:  Ironton Boat Ramp for mutual aid with the Russell Fire Dept. for a vehicle in the Ohio river just off the boat ramp. The Ashland FD Marine One and the AFD Dive team provided safety for the removal of the empty vehicle in the river.

EMS Calls

AFD responded to three overdose calls in the City with two patients being transported to the hospital by EMS crew.

AFD responded to 11 other medical calls in the City this week with six patients being transported by EMS crew to the hospital and one by the Coroner.

Fire Prevention:

AFD Fire Prevention office performed 17 fire inspections and 7 fire consultations in the City this week.

AFD fire crews installed smoke and detectors into one residences in the City this week.

Public Service Assistance:

AFD crews performed six public service assistance calls in the City this week.
