MOREHEAD The Morehead State Men's Basketball program is excited to add junior college standout Marcus Garrett to the program.
A 6-1 guard who attended Wabash Valley College, Garrett is a native of Country Club Hills, Ill (in the Chicago metro area) where he attended Hillcrest High School. He will be a redshirt junior at MSU with two seasons of eligibility remaining.
"Marcus is a tough scoring and play-making guard who will bring an edge to our program," said head coach Preston Spradlin.
The sharpshooting Garrett nailed nearly 38 percent from three-point range last season at WBC. He averaged 15.6 points, 7.4 rebounds and 4.0 assists per game. He was the only player in the Great Rivers Athletic Conference to finish in the top ten in points, rebounds, and assists. For his career, he scored more than 1,000 points at Wabash Valley.
Garrett was named all-conference and all-region and was an All-American nominee in 2019-20.
"He will blend well with our newcomers, returning players and guys who redshirted for us to help our team make a big jump this offseason. Fans will love his motor and the passion he plays with."
Garrett missed a majority of the 2018-19 season at Wabash Valley, but as a freshman in 2017-18 he averaged 16.0 points and 2.0 assists and hit 44 percent from three-point range.
