LOUISVILLE WDRB is reporting that state Rep. Dan Johnson — who was the subject of a police report alleging he molested a young woman — took his own life Wednesday.

According to WDRB.com, Bullitt County Sheriff Donnie Tinnell said Johnson took his life Wednesday afternoon on a bridge near Mt. Washington. The story said the sheriff recovered a gun believed to have been used.

Johnson apparently posted a message on his Facebook page around 5 p.m. EST Wednesday. In the message, he said he was innocent of the charges, loved God and his family, and suffered from post traumatic stress disorder or PTSD and said, “I cannot take it any longer. It has won.”

The Kentucky Center for Investigative Reporting earlier this week reported that a young woman who once attended the church headed by Johnson alleged that he molested her when she was 17 while staying overnight in Johnson’s home as a guest of Johnson’s daughter.

Since the story, there have been calls for Johnson to resign from the General Assembly or for the House to expel him.

Tuesday, Johnson denied all the allegations at a press conference at his church and said he would not resign his seat in the Kentucky House of Representatives.
