Charles and Geneva Greene Renfroe are celebrating their 70 year wedding anniversary.

The couple were married in Ashland by the Rev. Jess Oakley on June 17, 1949.

Mr. Renfroe is the son of the late Samuel and Cleva Renfroe of Ashland. Mrs. Renfroe is the daughter of the late Albert and Mary Eliz Greene, also of Ashland.

He is retired from ARMCO Steel and she is a homemaker. The couple have farmed since 1958 in Arabia, Ohio, raising beef cattle and a variety of crops. The Renfroes have raised a truck garden for more than 40 years and are known for their Silver Queen sweet corn and watermelon. They continue to raise a garden to enjoy with their family.

They have often taken time to travel, having visited all 48 contiguous states and enjoy any chance to eat fresh seafood along their travels.

They are longtime members of Myrtle Tree Missionary Baptist Church, where Mr. Renfroe has served as an ordained deacon for 28 years.

They have been blessed with their children Chuck (Brenda) Renfroe, Kathy (Allan) Cremeans and Dave (Barbie) Renfroe. Grandchildren include Nikki (Shane) McComas, Chad (Jodi) Renfroe, Todd (Marketta) Robinson, Andy (Courtney) Cremeans, Amy (Josh) Jackson, Carl Grube and Tyler (Laura) Cremeans. Great-grandchildren are Chayden and Devin Renfroe, Austin and Samantha Robinson, Wade Britton, Madison and Chloe Floyd, Emily and Nick Jackson, Keira Cremeans and Tylar Cremeans.

A celebration is planned at noon today at at Myrtle Tree Missionary Baptist Church in Arabia.
