Rages and Dorothy Austin will celebrate their 67th wedding anniversary.
They were wed on Aug. 16, 1949, in Tazewell, Va., and began their life together in their hometown of Bluefield, W.Va.
Mr. Austin’s job with the N&W Railway offered promotions and moves around the Appalachian coalfields during his career. He retired in Bluefield with Mrs. Austin, where they lived until 2007, at which time they relocated to Louisa to be closer to family.
Many of their years together were spent in Williamson, W.Va., and Bluefield, where they served in the community and their church.
Mrs. Austin has been a career homemaker and volunteer in many arenas. Together, they raised three children and now enjoy the company of five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Congratulations and well wishes may be sent to Dorothy Austin on her Facebook page.
