ASHLAND — Several downed power lines and trees caused problems in Ashland and throughout the region on Tuesday night.
The storm caused more than 13,000 power outages in Boyd, Greenup and Carter counties, according to AEP.
Several downed trees throughout Ashland also created traffic problems. Several officers from the Ashland Police Department were directing traffic with traffic lights out throughout the city.
A family in a home on Chadwick Street escaped harm after a tree hit the house and went through a roof and into a bedroom.
There were several other reports of trees knocking down power lines, according to dispatchers who were busy throughout the night answering calls.
Traffic was blocked on 13th Street and Lexington Avenue because of a downed tree and downed power lines.
Also trees were down at Blackburn Avenue-Roosevelt Street , 13th Street and Blackburn and 39th Street in Ashland.
