KSP: Fog may have been factor in accident

OLIVE HILL — Two women were killed in a head-on collision in Carter County this morning.

The accident occurred about 6:55 a.m. on Ky. 2 near Olive Hill, Kentucky State Police at Ashland said.

According to the KSP, Pamela Carroll, 53, of Olive Hill, was traveling southbound in a 2001 Pontiac when her vehicle veered across the center line and collided-head on with a northbound 1994 Ford Mustang driven by Sharon Moore, 62, also of Olive Hill.

At the time of the crash, the road surface was dry, but visibility was limited due to foggy conditions, the KSP said.

Carroll was pronounced dead at the scene by Carter County Deputy Coroner Jason Duvall. Moore was taken to Cabell Huntington Hospital, where she was prounced dead about three hours after the accident.

Both of the victims were wearing seat belts, the KSP said.

Multiple agencies responded to the accident scene, including, in addition to the KSP, the Olive Hill police and fire departments, Carter County Emergency Medical Services and the Carter County Coroner's Office.

The accident remains under investigation by Detective Toby Gardner.
