Olive Hill man charged with attempted murder

OLIVE HILL — A Carter County man has been arrested for allegedly shooting his wife in the neck during a domestic dispute.

Robert Tackett, 47, of Olive Hill, was lodged in the Carter County Detention Center on Monday, charged with attempted murder-domestic violence, Kentucky State Police at Ashland said.

Tackett's arrest was the result of the KSP's investigation of a shooting that occurred Saturday morning at the residence of Tackett and his wife, Lisa, located in the 1100 block of Eastland Drive. The Olive Hill Police Department was summoned to the couple's home about 9:45 a.m., and, upon arrival, offices found Lisa Tackett had been shot once in the neck, the KSP said.

Th OHPD contacted the KSP and requested a detective respond to the scene. The KSP launched an investigation, which determined the couple had gotten into an argument that became physical and escalated to the point Robert Tackett assaulted his wife with a firearm, the KSP said.

Tackett was transported to an unnamed medical facility for treatment and currently is in stable condition, the KSP said.

In addition to the Olive Hill Police Department, the Olive Hill Fire Department, Carter County Department of Social Services and Carter County EMS responded and assisted at the scene.

The investigation is ongoing by Detective Jeff Kelley
