BREAKING: Explosives find shuts down U.S. 23

RUSSELL — All four lanes of U.S. 23 have been shut down in the Russell-Flatwoods area due to the discovery of undetonated explosives on a hillside, authorities said.

A Greenup County dispatcher said the explosives were leftovers from a previous construction project.

The roadway has been closed between Ashland Drive and Argillite Road. Southbound traffic is being routed up Wheeler Hill. Motorists are advised to use alternate routes until further notice.
