ASHLAND — The documentary “The Rivalry: Red V. Blue” will be showing at the Paramount Arts Center Friday on the eve of March Madness.
With the NCAA Tournament right around the corner, nothing captivates the state’s attention quite like basketball. The last two NCAA champions have come from the Bluegrass — the University of Kentucky in 2012 and the University of Louisville in 2013.
Either could make a run at the crown again this season, too.
The documentary by Rory Owen Delaney explores the rivalry between Louisville and Kentucky. It has it all, from the Final Four semifinal showdown in 2012 to the Wildcats’ run to the championship that season.
There are interviews with coaches, politicians and diehard fans.
The timing of the documentary couldn’t have been better for the filmmakers, who were in New Orleans for the dramatic Final Four showdown between the Cardinals and the Wildcats in 2012. The film crew was also in Atlanta for Louisville’s national championship in 2013, the school’s first title since 1986 when Fairview’s own Jeff Hall was a starting guard.
The documentary has sold-out at several locations since debuting in Louisville last December. Tickets are $7.
