5 railroad cars derail near South Shore

SOUTH SHORE — Five railroad cars from a CSX train derailed on Monday night here along U.S. 23.

Emergency crews rushed to the scene, including HAZMAT. Four of the five cars were carrying ethanol and the other was empty, according to crews at the scene. The cars never tipped over and no ethanol was leaked.

The derailment happened around 8:45 p.m.

Crews worked into the night to get the cars back on the track.
