Ashland boil-water advisory lifted

ASHLAND — Ashland's water is once again safe to use for drinking and cooking without boiling it first.

The system-wide boil-water advisory that had been in place for nearly two weeks was lifted as of 1:45 p.m. today.

The advisory had been in place since Jan. 27. was issued due to low pressure in the system caused by numerous water line breaks and low storage tank levels.

The advisory played havoc with beverage service at local restaurants, which were forced to serve bottled and canned drinks because they were unable to use their soda fountains.
