Main water line break in Greenup

GREENUP —

A main water line in Greenup broke this morning, draining the system's main storage tank and disrupting service to several thousand customers, according to Mayor Lundie Meadows.
“It just blew out of the ground about 30 minutes ago,” Meadows said at abot 8:15 a.m.
About 375,000 gallons – the entire contents of the tank – drained out within minutes, he said.
Until the break is repaired, probably by mid-afternoon, the water plant will not be able to process new supplies, Meadows said.
The mishap sets back by about three days the schedule for complete restoration of service, he said.
