85-year-old survives burning aircraft

WORTHINGTON — An 85-year-old pilot escaped serious injury on Friday after his plane caught fire and burned before takeoff at the Ashland Regional Airport.

Marvin Warner of Russell was taken to the hospital with only a burn on his leg. However, the experimental aircraft on which he was working is completely destroyed. The plane was taxing to the runway when the plane caught fire.

The Worthington Fire Department responded to the scene.
