Greenup man arrested after allegedly stealing 'buy' money

ASHLAND — A Greenup County man was arrested early this morning in Ashland after he allegedly stole drug "buy" money from a confidential informant working for the Boyd County Sheriff's Department.

Reece Frasure Jr., 25, of Raceland, was lodged in the Boyd County Detention Center, charged with theft, second-degree fleeing or evading police, tampering with physical evidence, resisting arrest and illegal possession of a legend drug.

According to the sheriff's department, deputies were conducting a controlled purchase of narcotics from Frasure in the 900 block of Blackburn Avenue about 12:30 a.m. when Frasure grabbed the informant's money and fled on foot. Deputies gave chase and were able to catch up to the suspect a short distance away. A brief struggle ensued, but deputies were able to subdue the suspect.

One deputy suffered a minor hand injury in the fracas and was released after treatment at King's Daughters Medical Center. Frasure also was treated at KDMC for an injury to his forehead.
