UPDATE: 3 suspects in Rowan slaying in custody

MOREHEAD — Three suspects wanted in connection with a weekend home-invasion murder in Rowan County are now in custody.

Kentucky State Police at Morehead said this morning that Anthony “Rell” Paysen, 19, of Hodgenville; and Julius “Jubee” Kolowitz, 20, and Jaque Abrams, 19, both of Elizabethtown, all had been arrested. Kolowitz turned himself in and Paysen was apprehended in the Hodgenville area, the KSP said. No information was given regarding Abrams’ capture.

The three, along with Demario Powell, 18, of Morehead, and Marcus Stewart, 19, of Elizabethtown, are charged in the slaying of Bo Otis, 20, of Owingsville. Otis was shot in the head Sunday at a residence on Rose Road.

According to the KSP, a man at the residence called 911 to report a home invasion. When troopers arrived at the scene, they found Otis with a gunshot wound to his head. He was transported initially to St. Claire Regional Medical Center, then transferred to University of Kentucky Medical Center, where he succumbed to his injuries.

The KSP has not released any other details on the incident, including the motive for the slaying.

The incident remains under investigation by Detective Toby Gardner.
