Woman charged with meth-making, endangerment

GREENUP — A Greenup County woman has been indicted for allegedly making methamphetamine in the presence of a youngster and an elderly woman.

Grand jurors last week returned a true bill charging Jessica V. Anders, 37, of Flatwoods, with manufacturing meth, fourth-degree controlled substance endangerment to a child and first-degree wanton endangerment.

The latter charge stemmed from Anders allegedly having dangerous chemicals and/or manufacturing meth in the basement of her residence, “thereby creating a substantial danger of death or serious physical injury to the elderly female living upstairs in said residence.”

Manufacturing meth is a Class B felony that carries a five- to 10-year prison sentence. The other charges are Class D felonies that carry one- to five-year sentences.

Enders was arrested May 17 by officers of the Greenup County Sheriff’s Department, Flatwoods Police Department and Worthington Police Department. She was lodged in the Greenup County Detention Center, where she remains.

A grand jury indictment is a formal accusation of a crime and does not establish guilt.

Others named in true bills handed up last week by the grand jury were:

‰ Seth A. Reeves, 28, of Wurtland, charged with failure to comply with sex offender registration and posession of matter portraying a sexual performance by a minor.

‰ Colin M. McCreery, 23, of Milton, W.Va, charged with two counts of first-degree sexual abuse.

‰ Maxwell J. Wiley, 32, and Barbara D. Cornett, 35, both of Argillite, both charged with first-degree drug possession, possession of drug paraphernalia and receiving stolen property.

‰ Marvin D. Hieneman II, 38, of Ashland, charged with third-degree assault on a peace officer and first-degree persistent felony offender.
