ANN DAVIS GALLERY

Bill Meadows will begin two eight-week pottery classes in the Potter’s Loft. Students may attend either Monday or Tuesday evenings from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. Call (304) 654-9948 for details.

ART OF THE REDEEMED

STUDIO & GALLERY

The gallery, in Suite 206 on the second floor of the Camayo Arcade, 1536 Winchester Ave., Ashland, is home to working artists Gail Kirtz and Rodney Chapman, both of whom work in various media and offer their original art and prints for sale.

Special exhibit — “Toothpick Constructions” by Les Hayes, which include a replica of his home, the Spider Web House, Cracker Barrel restaurants, the old Russell High School, houses, barns, churches and depots.

Openings are still available in classes or private lessons in pastel, acrylic and oil.

The studio and gallery are handicapped accessible with an elevator and open by appointment.

MUSEUM OF ART

The Tri-State Arts Association will host juried art works at the museum from West Virginia, Ohio and Kentucky through Sept. 14. Jurors were Betty Talbott of Columbus and Carrie Mopora of Gallipolis.

‰Through Sept. 21 — Civil War Photographs from the David L. Hack collection, which will be displayed through Sept. 21 in the Daywood Gallery.

JESSE STUART FOUNDATION

Exhibits:

“Image of Appalachia,” a collection of more than 60 black-and-white photographs of eastern Kentucky and West Virginia from the 1920s and 1930s is on display.

“The Leming Gallery,” a collection of reminiscences reflected in the work of local artists. Jim Marsh, Steve McClements, Billy Kersey, Buzzy Leming and Carolina Wilson will be on display.

PAINTED COW GALLERY

The gallery has a wide diversity of fine hand-made artwork on display and for sale from artists of the Tri-State and beyond.

Commissioned artists are available for specific art work.

“Back to School” is the featured exhibit this month. A variety of hand painted old school desk sets are for sale by the Lawrence County Arts Council artists.

Tuesdays — Artists Day. Bring your own supplies (except oils) and for $5 spend the day creating with other artists.

Septemberfest 2008 — art contest and exhibit sponsored by the Lawrence County Arts Council is upcoming. Artists are asked to start preparing work for the multi-media art show in Lawrence County. THE PENDLETON

ART CENTER

The Pendleton Art Center at 1537-1539 Winchester Ave., Ashland, houses the working and retail sale studios of artists and craftsmen from the Tri-State Area with a wide range of talents.

The Thursday before First Friday each month is open mic night. Singers, storytellers, poets, comedians, and others are invited to perform. THE UPSTAIRS GALLERY

Laura Moul is the featured artist for August. She is an award winning professional photographer and a PPA artist from Milton, W.Va.

New artists photographer Dan Morgan from Ironton, specializing in landscapes, and David Kelly of East Liverpool, Ohio, a tile designer, are coming soon.

The gallery’s collection contains works by 30 of the best artists in the area.

New business and framing hours for August is Tuesday through Friday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
