BANANA TREE STUDIOS

The studio offers class instruction in ceramics, watercolors and oils.

All classes are open to beginners as well as advanced students. Classes are for eight weeks, meeting once a week for 2 1/2 hours. There must be five students registered for the class. Cost is $110.

Gallery hours are Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. or by appointment at 121 E. Electric Ave., Flemingsburg.

Workshops:

CLAYPOOL-YOUNG ART GALLERY

DOODLES STUDIO & GALLERY

‰Paper Mosaic class is $65 including 6”X6” canvas or mirror frame, craft knife, decoupage medium and dimensional paint as well as six to eight class hours of instruction to be done in one day.

‰Traditional Mosaic class are $110, which includes mirror frame, tile nippers, safety glasses, adhesive and six class hours of instruction.

HIGHLANDS MUSEUM and

DISCOVERY CENTER

The museum is sponsoring a raffle of two front-row tickets for the Sept. 22 Willie Nelson concert at the Paramount Arts Center. Tickets are six for $10. The drawing will be Sept. 15. The museum will be celebrating its 25th anniversary at this time.

JESSE STUART FOUNDATION

Aug. 8, noon to 5 p.m. — Open house to celebrate Jesse Stuart’s 103rd birthday. Activities include from noon to 2 p.m. : Book signings by area authors; Stacy Nelson’s new post-civil-war novel, “Beneath the Weeping Skies,” will be first offered to the reading public; Danny Fulks, author of “Tick Ridge Faces the South and Tragedy on Greasy Ridge,” stories and essays; and several more authors; from 2 to 3 p.m. : A two-person drama about Stuart’s lifelong friendship with his high school teacher; 3:30 to 5 p.m. : The films, “Heart of a Town,” “This is Your Life,” and “Split Cherry Tree,’ will be shown.

Potters’ Loft

Registration for an eight-week wheel-thrown pottery class with instructor Bill Meadows beginning Monday from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. or Tuesday from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. The Potters’ Loft is at 1514 Winchester Ave.

PAINTED COW GALLERY

Studio home for the Lawrence County Arts Council in downtown Louisa, 103 S. Main Cross St. (across the street from the Lawrence County Court House). (606) 638-1313.

The gallery and Lawrence County Arts Council (LCAC) will sponsor art classes for students each Wednesday at 1 p.m. at the gallery. Beginning watercolor classes for adults are offered at noon on the first Saturday of each month for $26 per session, including supplies, at the gallery. The gallery is featuring a beautiful assortment of hand painted juvenile furniture. Choose from toy boxes, computer tables, high chairs, theme painted chair and desk sets perfect for home schoolers or doing homework.

The gallery offers a wide variety of artwork including drawings, paintings, pastels, sculptures, quilts, hand made jewelry, instruments, art dolls and hand-painted decorative furniture, and much more.

It is now time to start preparing multi-media artwork for the Septemberfest Art Contest.

THE PENDLETON

ART CENTER

The Pendleton Art Center at 1537-1539 Winchester Ave., Ashland, houses the working and retail sale studios of artists and craftsmen from the Tri-State Area with a wide range of talents.
