Through First Friday of July the Kentucky Watercolor Show Award winners will be on display.

In the Logan Room, digital prints by Jennifer Spade, who has a master of arts degree from Marshall, will be continue to be displayed.

ART OF THE REDEEMED

STUDIO & GALLERY

The gallery is in Suite 206, on the second floor of the historic Camayo Arcade, 1536 Winchester Ave., in downtown Ashland. It is home to working artists Gail Kirtz and Rodney Chapman, both of whom work in various media and offer their original art and prints for sale.

Special Exhibit — Toothpick Constructions by Les Hayes which include a replica of his home, the “Spider Web House,” Cracker Barrel restaurants, the old Russell High School, houses, barns, churches and depots.

On exhibit:

‰New impressionistic landscapes and seascapes in oil by Kirtz. Also on exhibit are pastels, acrylics and mixed-media works.

‰New contemporary works by Chapman in acrylic and mixed-media. He is accepting portrait commissions.

Openings are still available in classes or private lessons in pastel, acrylic and oil.

The studio and gallery are handicapped accessible with an elevator and open by appointment.

BANANA TREE STUDIOS

Summer Motion

June 30 from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. and July 1 from noon to 5 p.m. in Ashland’s Central Park. Join our student volunteers in Central Park as they bring our FETCH! Lab to you. Try our mind and body challenges along with activities that you’ve seen on the FETCH! PBS television show. Free admission.

Special exhibits:

“Paws Along the River Art Show” — Through July 20. Glimpse the street cats and dogs that make up downtown Ashland’s latest public art project and then come inside for a 2-D showing all kinds of animal friends. A new juried art show that showcases the talent and creativity of Tri-State artists.

“From Sea to Shining Sea: 200 Years of America’s Coast Survey” — Through Oct. 31. A pictorial exhibit from the Smithsonian and NOAA celebrating 200 years of accomplishments and scientific contributions in mapping our nation’s coast. Photos, charts and artwork provide information and resources on boating, shipping and maritime history.

“Styles and Textiles: Crazy Quilts from the 19th Century” — Visit our textile area where elegant fabrics and elaborate stitches were designed in unconventional and decorative ways for the Victorian home.

Special Student Events:

Every Child is an Artist — Wednesdays in June (13, 20 and 27) from 12:45 to 2:15 p.m. Preschool art experience for child (ages 3 to 5) and caregivers. Includes story and playtime. Call to register. Students can register for one day or all three. Cost per session is $30 for members and $35 for non-members. Cost per day is $10 for members and $12 for non-members. Discount for second child in family.

Somewhere in Time — Pick up your passport in our FETCH! Lab. Pack your bag and travel back in time, around the globe and toward the stars. Find our passport stamping stations and learn how people live around the world. On-going activities throughout the summer beginning Friday. Free with admission.

FETCH! Challenge Lab — Saturdays and weekdays in June. Try activities from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. that you’ve seen on PBS’s FETCH! This month features “Float Your Boat.” Activities are free with regular admission.

The museum is at 1620 Winchester Ave. Admission is $5 adults, $4 seniors, children and students. Members and children younger than 2 admitted free.

HUNTINGTON MUSEUM of ART

Art Classes:

Digital Photography and Computer Techniques — Through June 27 on Wednesdays from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. for four sessions with instructor David Fattaleh in Studio 3. Cost is $65 for HMA members and $80 for nonmembers.

Sculpting — Through July 25 on Wednesdays from 6 to 8 p.m. for eight sessions in Studio 4. Cost is $95 for HMA members and $120 for non-members.

Hand Building and Wheel Throwing for Adults — Through July 30 from 6 to 8 p.m. on Mondays with instructor Kathleen Kneafsey in Studio 4. Cost is $95 for HMA members and $120 for nonmembers.

JESSE STUART FOUNDATION

Exhibits:

“Image of Appalachia,” a collection of more than 60 black-and-white photographs of Eastern Kentucky and West Virginia from the 1920s and 1930s, is on display.

“The Leming Gallery,” a collection of reminiscences reflected in the work of local artists Jim Marsh, Steve McClements, Billy Kersey, Buzzy Leming and Caroline Wilson will be on display.

PENDLETON ART CENTER

The Pendleton Art Center at 1537-1539 Winchester Ave., is home to artists from the Tri-State area who have a wide range of talents.

The studios are open for First Friday each month from 5 to 9 p.m. and the following day for Second Look Saturday from noon to 4 p.m. Some studios are open daily; some are open by appointment with the artist. Contact information for artists is available in the lobby.
